Delivered in partnership with Aberdeen’s Third Sector Interface, ACVO TSI, ETZ Ltd’sCommunity & Coast Fund aims to empower local groups by providing targeted grants to support initiatives that respond to community needs ranging from youth support to wellness and skills development, as well as heritage preservation, sustainability and improving biodiversity.
Applications opened in late September 2025, inviting local groups to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to help bring their ideas for innovative community projects to life.
This year’s applicants were also asked to consider four priority issues identified with local stakeholders and Year 1 awardees: community safety, community engagement, social isolation and mental health.
The local organisations benefiting from the fund this year include Charleston PrimaryParent Council, who will develop a dedicated sensory room to support children with additional needs, Cove Woodland Trust to extend the community woodland path network and improve access for all visitors, Torry Men’s Shed to strengthen its community space where men can meet and learn new skills, and Cove and Altens Community Council to deliver their Tree of Hope project, a semi-permanent structure built in partnership with local groups.
Big Noise Torry will also benefit, supporting its free, long-term music education programme that helps hundreds of children and young people build confidence, develop life skills and reach their potential.
Carole Monnier, Community Lead at ETZ Ltd, said: “We’re delighted to continue supporting projects that make a real difference for people in Torry and Cove, and empower groups to turn great ideas into action.”
ACVO Development Officer Sarah Irvine worked closely with groups in Torry and Cove throughout the application period, helping shape proposals and support ideas. She said: “It’s been fantastic to work with so many local organisations as they bring their projects to life. There’s a great mix of initiatives this year, and I’m excited to see the positive impact they will have across Torry and Cove.”
These awards represent an important source of investment for community-led initiatives at a time when funding is increasingly competitive and many local organisations in Aberdeen - and across Scotland - are managing significant financial pressures.
Maggie Hepburn, Chief Executive of ACVO TSI, said “Securing funding is often a challenge for community groups, so we’re pleased to support the delivery of this initiative for a second year. ACVO has a strong track record of working with organisations across Aberdeen, and we see the difference well-resourced projects can make.
“ACVO TSI will be actively engaging with recipients of the fund to showcase their success as the projects get underway in 2026, and we look forward to sharing these stories next year.”
